Mara L. Babin, Esq.

Mara Babin’s singular focus is helping her clients create wealth by building shareholder value in their businesses.

Her experience derives from a career of structuring and leading U.S. and international transactions involving billions of dollars. This means seeing the big picture, understanding risk, anticipating problems and getting parties to “yes” in any deal, whether friendly or contentious. Her experience encompasses private equity investments, M&A, leveraged buy-outs, fund, asset management, sponsor and SPV formation, capital raises, cornerstone investor relationships, corporate governance, investor on-boarding, due diligence, technology licensing and portfolio company matters.

Prior to forming MBMC in 2009, Babin was an equity partner in Squire Patton Boggs, a global law firm, where she led the London office and European private equity group. She was the second female partner in the then almost 100-year-old firm. A dual citizen of the U.S. and UK, Babin is a member of the New York and Arizona bars. She has been recognized for excellence in Private Equity and M&A by Chambers Europe’s Leading Lawyers for Business and by UK Legal Experts, Babin is a managing director of Golden Seeds, an investment firm that invests in early-stage women-led companies. She earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan and her B.A., magna cum laude (Economics), from Washington University in St. Louis.

Mark A. Cusick, Esq.

With a focus on multi-billion-dollar multi-level joint ventures and cross-border investments, Mark Cusick has represented American, European, Middle Eastern and Japanese clients in acquisitions, dispositions, financings and joint ventures in the U.S., Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Cusick also has significant business experience, having served for three years as Executive Vice President – Development for a London based catv development company and in the role of International Coordinator for Squire Patton Boggs. 

Prior to co-founding MBMC in 2009, Cusick was a 34-year partner at Squire Patton Boggs, opening the firm’s London office in 1992 and growing its European presence from one office and seven lawyers to nine offices with 180 lawyers, as well as spearheading the firm’s expansion into Hong Kong and Taipei. Cusick earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law (Editor of The Law Review, Order of the Coif) and his B.A. from Duquesne University.
